Remarks & Notes
Back from the Dead! Bay Colony 1705 has been brought back from the dead and put back into freight service on the BCLR Watuppa Line. 1705 started as GP9 704 on the Great Northern in 1956. When on the Burlington Northern roster, it's nose got chopped and was renumbered 1777. 1705 remained numbered as 1777 during it's time on the Great Western and Omnitrax until acquisition by Bay Colony. It's great to see this 60+ year-old locomotive being brought back to life on a rickety shortline in Massachusetts. 1705 is seen returning from the Mass Coastal interchange in New Bedford, heading westbound to it's resting place in Dartmouth.
