Remarks & Notes
Early on a fall morning, a 5899 train headed for Richmond, CA, meets an eastbound in the hole at Glen Frazer. The conductor on the rear platform of his caboose can clearly hear the 589 approaching. The right of way here at the east end of Glen Frazer is shoe-horned into the scarce space in this part of the canyon.

The EMD SD (special duty) series are a strong and reliable kind of locomotive which still serve America's rails today. They have proved themselves reliable by clocking in several million miles of freight service.
