Remarks & Notes
Until the end of 2012, two or three sand freights circulated daily between Arija and Bilbao. Since 2013, Renfe took over the management of Feve and the circulations were reduced to a daily train. But everything can get worse and in the last two years the circulations have been drastically reduced to a monthly train ... and even less. The official reason for this decline is the lack of engineers ... incredible, but true. A few weeks ago, the narrow gauge network of Asturias and Cantabria has suffered the consequences of severe floods that have cut the line that connects both provinces. While the serious damages are repaired, there are many unoccupied engineers and for that reason in the last weeks a sand freight is circulating daily between Arija and Bilbao. Probably the situation lasts for one or two months so in the meantime we will continue to enjoy this rail "mirage".
