Remarks & Notes
The tower that time forgot. This tower guarded the crossing of the CNW mainline to the Twin Ports and Soo Line's Blueberry branch line just south of Rice Lake, WI. The WC took over the Soo Line in 1987 and the CNW in 1990. The Soo Line portion was abandoned in 1991 and the crossing removed, although it looks like it is already unusable in this 1987 image. CN leased it to the Wisconsin Northern, but took the track back for all the sand trains. The tower was built in 1916 and automated in 1942. Somehow, it remains standing to this day.
