On a day plagued with heavy rains and nearby tornadoes, train 137 departs Columbus, GA, after the mainline had been inspected for obstructions. It would only be able to proceed about seven miles west, into the siding at Smiths Station, while first responders continued rescue missions, cleared roads, and surveyed damage caused by the storms.
