Although still operating as the DM&IR, the railroad is 13 months into its acquisition by Canadian National. SD38-2 no. 212 could use some touch up paint. The unit was built in March 1975 and was the second to last unit bought new by the Missabe. After 1975 they tapped the used market, thus the rebuilt Tunnel Motors in this scene. Once exclusively the home of SD9s and 18s, a lone rebuilt SDM hides in the background. The Lake Superior Transportation Museum sports two SDMs.
