CNW 8651, UP 9187, CNW 8727 head north with an empty coal train. Another CNW train heads south with a loaded train. The coal field a re a busy place. The CNW C44-9W's were bought with out air conditioners. It was a difficult task to photograph them with out the front door open in the summer. 8651 door is unlatched but mostly closed. We had a crew invite us into the cab of one. They turned on a cooling fan for us, to demonstrated how loud they were. The crews preferred to open the front door to let in a little cooling, instead of using the noisy fan. CNW management choose to save some money when they placed the order with out AC units. The CNW crews were not pleased with the decision.
