| "New Platform C at SPG"
It's Saturday, April 27th and the last pre-constructed platform sections for "Platform C" at Springfield Union Station were lowered & locked into place the previous night. Seen here is one of the first CTrail trains to be parked next to it. Springfield Union Station was originally constructed in 1926 by the Boston & Albany Railroad, but recently underwent a huge renovation project and was reopened in 2017 as the regions intermodal transit hub. The only renovation work that remains is the station platforms. Platform C is the first which serves trains on Tracks 4 and 6. Once completed, these high-level platforms will allow easier boarding & alighting for rail passengers. |
