"Platform Progress at Springfield"
A CTrail train lays over on Track 6 at Springfield Union station adjacent to the new Platfrom C where work has paused for the night. Now that the platform sections are in, work has resumed on components such as the awning, elevator, staircase and other platform fixtures that passengers would normally find on a station platform.
Springfield Union Station was originally constructed in 1926 by the Boston & Albany Railroad, but recently underwent a huge renovation project and was reopened in 2017 as the regions intermodal transit hub. The only renovation work that remains is the station platforms. Platform C is the first which serves trains on Tracks 4 and 6. Once completed, these high-level platforms will allow easier boarding & alighting for rail passengers.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
