| Texas State Railroad's 1953 ALCO /GE MRS-1 locomotive - built for the United States Army (as their No. 2101), this "Military Road Switcher" (or "Military Road Service") locomotive later went to the United States Navy. The low-profile (height) on these diesels was designed to better clear the tighter clearances in Europe. Amazingly - of the 96 manufactured, only one MSR-1 (No. 1818) made it to Europe. |
