One of Texas State Railroad's prized possessions is its Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway 4-6-2 No. 1316, aka, Texas State Railroad No. 500. This is a "new" boiler that was manufactured for the then ailing locomotive after it was sidelined in the mid 1990's. Unfortunately, it did not meet expectations required for reassembly. They still hope to have her back in operation, but it may be some time (and money!).
