Remarks & Notes
The Mississippi River has caused alot of headaches in the Midwest with the railroads this spring. The river crested at Burlington, IA, (19 miles upstream) on 6-02 at the 3rd highest crest on record at 24.48 feet. The record was set in 2008 at 25.78 feet. The water at Fort Madison is starting to go down, but it has a long ways to go before the yard can be put back in service. A westbound auto train blasts off for KC with a new crew on board. To the left of the train everything is completely under water. The BNSF is doing a good job keeping the busy Transcon main open considering all the high water thru town. Pretty sure back in 1993/2008 the mainline didn't do as well with higher river crests. They have sand bagged the depot and moved the employee parking lot to the north some for this flood.
