| The pride of the fleet train 261 the XL Special leans into a right hand super-elevated curve climbing the sub-continental divide through Elm Grove,WI. on it's carded 55 and a half hour trip from Chicago's Bensenville Yard to Tide Flats Yard in Tacoma,WA..Truth be known the schedule was developed in 1963 when the train started with four GP30's two business cars and about 40 cars but on this date of the photo it was still the hottest thing on the railroad. In five years it will no longer go to the west coast as LINES WEST will disappear and in 10 years this will be called the SOO LINE RR........... |
