Working the DeBruce Grain elevator in Lexington, Nebraska, is Illinois & Missouri Rail Link SD9 612. IMLR is no more, having been replaced by Iowa Chicago & Eastern, so the actual owner of this engine is a bit of a mystery. Built as Southern Pacific 5485 in April 1956, this "Cadillac" was renumbered to SP 3958 in the SP's 1965 renumbering. In May 1974 this engine was rebuilt, along with the rest of the railroad's SD9s, emerging from the Sacramento Shops as SP SD9R 4391 (the air filter box just ahead of the dynamic brakes is a spotting feature of these rebuilds). SP retired it on 9/18/95, and not long after it was sold to Progress Rail, then Pacific Rail Industries followed by Nevada Industrial Switching Company and, after that, Montana Rail Link (who chopped the nose) as power for subsidiary IMRL.
