Bird's eye view (from the opposite mountain slope) to the workplace, depot and station of the Dampfbahn Furka Bergstrecke (DFB) and the village of Realp in the background. Behind the turntable the 3 track rectangular shed (with a mechanical workshop and a locksmith's shop in the basement) with the extension for wardrobes, kitchen, canteen etc. On the left the 5 track workshop building for the diesel crew, works on the steamlocomotives and cars, built from 2009 to 2016. The yellow crane on the left corner of the building is for the loading of coal to the steamlocomotives. On the turntable is steamlocomotive HG 2/3 # 6 "Weisshorn", which is ready to pull the charter train 139 to Gletsch. In the foreground of the picture two large portal cranes and some vehicles on a siding track, including the diesellocomotive Gm 4/4 # 71 "Elch", which is running for the DFB since 2014. In the background the Realp DFB station, from where the trains start for the journey over the Furka pass. The yellow crane behind is for the construction site of the new 4-track shed for the cars of the DFB, which should be ready before the next winter. On the right the tracks of the Matterhorn-Gotthard-Bahn (MGBahn), going into the 15,3 kilometer long Furka Base tunnel, which opened in 1982.
