Remarks & Notes
Resting between runs in the BNSF Railway's San Bernardino engine facility are a pair of four-axle locomotives, downgraded from their mainline duties to local service. On the left is BNSF 3119, a phase II GP50 built in July 1985 as Burlington Northern 3119 - the color of which it retains over 33 years later. It is coupled to GP60M 153, which was delivered to the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railway in August 1990. When new, this locomotive wore the Santa Fe's popular Superfleet colors, reminiscent of that road's iconic Warbonnet red and silver paint scheme. Following the Santa Fe and BN merger, GP60M 153 avoided getting repainted until sometime after 2010, as it wears the current paint scheme found on BNSF power delivered or repainted after 2010. Combined, these two engines have worked for BNSF and its predecessors for 51 years! And I still think of them as fairly new power...
