This is the Chicago South Shore & South Bend's mainline between Chicago IL and South Bend IN, which sees not only freight traffic, but also electrified commuter trains operated by the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District - hence the catenary over the tracks. During a morning lull between passenger trains, a South Shore GP38-2s 2001 and 2005 bring a freight train eastward down 11th Street in Michigan City, Indiana, on September 28, 2018.
