A 1906 vintage 50 ton ore car, one of the first all steel ore cars built for the Missabe, donated to the Soudan Underground State Park by the DMIR in 1972. This car was one of 4,250 cars of this type delivered between 1905 through 1907 to haul ore from the Vermillion Range to Two Harbors, MN and is situated near the loading pocket where some 16 million tons of ore were dumped into Missabe ore cars in the mines long history which began in 1884 and wooden cars and ended with the closing of the mine in 1962.
