Lombard Canyon is on the Missouri near Tostin, MT. Lewis & Clark once camped along the banks here, perhaps in this very spot this photo was taken. Later smaller river boat steamers made it as far as Three Forks before the Northern Pacific railroad was built.... Since those early days of travel, very little has changed except the trains.
