Norfolk Southern's move of the Virginia Museum of Transportation's 4-8-4 VMTX/N&W 611 was supposed to be one day from Roanoke to Enola, PA and the next to Strasburg, PA, however that plan quickly fell out of whack when a freight train suffered multiple issues on a single track ahead of the 955 steam loco move. At dusk, after being idled for more than 8 hours, the move is finally under way from Buena Vista, VA with the N&W CPL signals still standing guard for the move onto the single track there.
The Shenandoah Valley of Virginia boasts some impressive scenery and trains, some of the best in the state. This album is for all photos taken in the Shenandoah Valley.
