Conway Scenic Railroad's Railfan Weekend included an end-to-end trip on the company-operated former Maine Central Mountain Division trackage. After departing North Conway Depot, the train headed for Mountain Jct. with CSRX 0-6-0 #7470 leading north/westbound. At Mountain Jct., the CSRX former Maine Central GP38 252 and accomplice CSRX GP35 216, led the train to the eastern end of the CSRX-operated Redstone Branch (former MEC Mountain Division) in Conway. Having traversed the entire Redstone Branch that has rail intact, the Sunday extra is now on its way west to the other end of the line in Whitefield, NH with the #7470 leading the charge up the former MEC Mountain Division.
Beautiful mountain scenery has made this small state a draw for rail buffs to ride the Mount Washington Cog Railway and the Conway Scenic, among others.
