Remarks & Notes
Passing one of the oldest Canadian passenger rail stations still in active use, VIA Rail Canada train 45 heads west through Port Hope, Ontario, heading to Toronto from Ottowa. Built from local limestone by the Grand Trunk Railway — one of the Canadian National predecessors — this station opened on October 27, 1856 (upon the inauguration of Montréal–Toronto mainline service). This train, comprised of LRC coaches and powered by VIA F40PH-3 6448, is one that bypasses stopping in Port Hope (the station for which is no longer staffed, although it does have a heated waiting room and restrooms).
