The Western New York & Pennsylvania's Driftwood turn roars across Allegheny Avenue in Emporium, Pennsylvania on the afternoon of September 11, 2019, in a cloud of dust and signature ALCo/MLW smoke. Immediately north of the crossing stands one of three decommissioned PRR signal bridges on this part of the former NS Buffalo Line (the others stand at Driftwood and North Eldred).
I've been trying, off and on, to get photos of this job (which runs in one of the most remote areas of the state, 2 hours from home and no celluar service between Driftwood and Emporium) for two years. With the WNYP's 6 -axle MLW/ALCo fleet slated for retirement and sale with the arrival of the first ex-CSX AC4400CWs, this was my first, and perhaps only, chase of these big sixes.
