Remarks & Notes |
The Pacific Great Eastern Railway built along the banks of the Cheakamus River towards Whistler in 1912. The railroad was extremely expensive to build and by 1918 the Railroad was bankrupt, with government taking over the property in 1918. Today the Canadian National uses the route to reach mills and mines in the remote interior of British Columbia. The ex PGE ex BC Rail route is a direct route to the seaport at North Vancouver. Todays train is led by the most modern locomotive on CN's roster, followed by empty boxcars used for Pulpwood loading. |
