Remarks & Notes

During the year that Conrail was the contract operator of the MBTA's South Side commuter service, a couple Conrail-owned ex-NYC E8s usually supplemented the MBTA's own ex-PRR Es. On the final weekday of CR operation before the Boston & Maine took over the contract, E8 4039 led a Framingham train out of South Station. The former NYC units could not lead on the corridor due to their lack of cab signals.
