Speeding across the Union Pacific's Yuma Subdivision on November 17, 2011, UP 4-8-4 844 has been touring the American southwest in order to help celebrate the upcoming centennials of New Mexico and Arizona. Having completed its visit to these two 99-year-old states, the engine has entered California and is passing through Bombay Beach, at 233 feet (68 m) below sea level, the lowest community in the United States (making this the lowest elevation of any railroad in the US as well). This train, with UP's Southern Pacific "Heritage" SD70ACe in the consist, is making the long trek back to its home in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
