Remarks & Notes
An empty coal train behind a single GECC - usual practice at the time - sits in the passing track as Opelika. What you cannot tell from the photo, is that five-year-old 7521 is dead as a doornail, having failed on the grade between Chehaw and Notasulga, requiring that the crew of a following train (144 or 614, if I recall) use their power to shove the silent GE and its train to its present resting place.
