A pretty healthy turn is arriving in Opelika after a trip to Lafayette and Roanoke. By this date, I believe there was just a single shipper in Roanoke - a cotton mill - and it would not be long until service would be cut back to Lafayette. I forget Southern's number for this train, but it ran as WofA 7/8 for the two miles of rights on Western Railway of Alabama between downtown Opelika and Roanoke Junction.
Selected photos of locomotives, passenger cars, and rolling stock in the Southern's livery as well as other assets once belonging to or used by the Southern.
