Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 582 passes through Califia Beach as it skirts the Pacific Ocean, living up to the name Surfliner. F59PHI 460 is pulling this six-car train from Los Angeles to San Diego. The beach was much more crowded earlier on this late August day, but as it nears 7:00 pm and as the sun gets closer to dropping "into" the Pacific, most of the beachgoers have left for the day. Stretching from San Luis Obispo to San Diego, the Surf Line has become Amtrak's second busiest route. See the Pacific Surfliner and San Diegan in action along with trains from predecessors Santa Fe and Southern Pacific.
