| Union Pacific’s daily through manifest train the MRONY has just hit the steepest part of the eastward climb to Soldier Summit. This location in Spanish Fork Canyon is called Detour, named for a 1913 line change that reduced the Soldier Summit grade from 4% to 2%. The actual spot of the grade change is visible here about 10 cars or so behind the power. |
