Pan Am Railways loaded coal train “Extra 5974” passes Robie’s Country Store in Hooksett, NH on its way up the Northern Mainline. Freshly repainted MEC B40-8 #5974 is leading this edition of the train, giving Hooksett a nice taste of its Leslie RS3L as the train nears its destination. Eventually it will reach the power plant in Bow, NH, the final coal-powered power plant in New England. This particular train is part of an order to the power plant that has brought the first “Bow Coal Trains” since 2016.
