While waiting at Edison for a late-running Amtrak 95 with the "Coke Can" leading, I completely forgot about the fact that Amtrak's veterans unit was also due any moment on Amtrak 43, the Pennsylvanian. Shortly after 606 swung around the distant curve heading out of Metuchen, a second headlight appeared. Here we see 606 and 642 in an apparent race through Edison. 642 was gaining fast and I suspect it overtook 606 by the time they crossed the Raritan River in New Brunswick a mile or so to the west.
