Conrail 6585, the lead unit on SECS-8, waits on the controlled siding at CP7 for passing northbound. Conrail received a total of fifty C30-7As from GE in 1984. This model was unique to Conrail in that it was powered by a 12-cylinder prime mover vs 16 in a typical C30-7. Equipped with six tall engine access doors on the long hood (vs. the usual eight), Conrail's standard red FRA marker lights and a heavy duty anti-climber, it was difficult to confuse these units with most other GEs at the time.
