Remarks & Notes
I am aboard CN's crack passenger train No. 61, The Rapido, from Montreal to Toronto. Due to a derailment on the mainline in Dorval (suburban Montreal) all trains coming from and heading to the west had to take a time consuming detour at Coteau through Ayrness and Delson and across the Victoria Bridge to Montreal. We are at Ayrness where the Valleyfield Sub. and the Massena Sub. cross and connect via a wye. We currently are Passenger Extra 6774 West on the Massena Sub. The freight is stopped on the connection from the Valleyfield to the Massena Sub. When our tail end clears the wye switch the head end brakeman will line the switch for Extra 2319 East to move off the Valleyfield Sub. and head to Delson on the Massena Sub. Once the freight clears we will make a reverse move and then proceed on the wye connection westward on the Valleyfield Sub. to Coteau and then return to the mainline. This detour added more than two hours and a half hours as this was single track train order territory and we had to meet an eastbound passenger train at Delson and then this freight at Ayrness.
