Unusual Interchange
The MBTA wash train navigates through the layover yard in Middleboro for an unusual pickup: New York Central caboose 21052. The caboose is an original NYC piece, and is now privately owned. It spent a good amount of time on the Mass Coastal railroad, used as a shoving platform on ballast trains. One night while in the yard in Rochester, the caboose was vandalized, and the decision was made to relocate it to Quincy on the Fore River Railroad. The wash train will take the caboose there on it's northward journey to Boston.
