One of eight surviving New York Central Railroad steam engines, #6721(B-11k 0-6-0, Alco Schenectady, 1913) sits just to the west of the Amtrak Station in Utica, New York on the night of March 15, 2019. A runaway covered hopper was released by vandelism on the New York, Susquehanna, and Western Railway and crashed into the locomotive and the station on July 21, 2015, causing extensive damage to engine and tender. In 2019, the tender was shipped to a shop in Dunkirk, NY for cosmetic restoration, and has since returned. Yesterday (March 29, 2020), the Utica & Mohawk Valley Chapter, NRHS posted pictures of the completed pilot beam, which is awaiting proper conditions for reinstallation (https://www.facebook.com/1655801451321235/posts/2665161977051839/?d=n).
