Remarks & Notes
Pacific Harbor Line MP20B-3 21, originally Boston & Maine GP38 254 (originally Maine Central 254) rebuilt by Motive Power Industries into an MP20B-3, shoves a cut of cars into the PHL’s Pier A Yard. The PHL owns two MPI MP20B-3 locomotives (20 and 21) and this one made the news on March 31, 2020, when a deranged PHL engineer who believed in weird conspiracy theories tried to ram this engine into a US Navy Hospital Ship (USNS Mercy) during the COVID-19 pandemic. He missed hitting the massive ship by 500-or-so-yards when he tried to operate it in Run 8 across pavement and gravel. (Wilmington California – February 21, 2014)
