Departing Alloy yard limits and crossing the Kanawha River at Deepwater, NS-rebuilt GE AC44C6M No. 4181 leads over 12,000 tons of West Virginia coal into the Virginian's Deepwater Tunnel. It's an uphill climb for most of the way and with the assistance of five rear-end EMD SD60 pushers, the coal train will arrive at Mullens under darkness before being handed over to an NS crew for the trip to Bluefield, W.Va.
