Remarks & Notes
Railcar BDe 4/4 # 80 of the DSF (Depot und Schienenfahrzeuge Koblenz), which came from the Südostbahn, is running from Koblenz via Bülach-Winterthur-St.Gallen to Wittenbach, later to Buchs (SG). Today, 16 cars which were used in the VAE (Voralpen-Express) of the Südostbahn, are exported to Hungary for a new life. In 1959 the motor coach ABe 4/4 # 71 was delivered to the Südostbahn and christened "Einsiedeln". It was the prototype of the successful series of high-performance railcars. The SOB then purchased further railcars, but now as BDe 4/4, and many other private railroads also decided to purchase similar vehicles. For many decades, the ABe 4/4 # 71 and the other BDe 4/4 railcars procured by SOB were capable of carrying the direct trains St. Gallen-Rapperswil-Lucerne over the steep ramps of SOB. But also the heavy pilgrim trains to Einsiedeln became their area of operation. In 1979 the 1st class compartment was removed from the ABe 4/4 # 71 and a luggage compartment was installed instead, making this motor coach a BDe 4/4 # 80 and later the BDe 576 # 048. When SOB started to use mainly FLIRT multiple units in regional traffic in 2008, the BDe 576 # 048 became surplus and was handed over to the association "Pendelzug Mirage" (VPM) together with the BDe 4/4 # 82 "Rapperswil". In 2010, DSF was able to take over the BDe 4/4 # 80 from the VPM and used it as a "workhorse" for transfer runs and the like. Although not classified by DSF as a historic vehicle, the 2010/2011 railcar received an external freshening up of the paint as well as the SOB-typical red rail scrapers. It was also given a scissors pantograph again and the coat of arms of DSF's home station Koblenz was added.
