CSX's former C&O mainline connecting Russell, Ky., with Clifton Forge, Va., has been stripped largely of its C&O signals and infrastructure, however a few relics continue guiding coal trains in the C&O coalfields. Here, Progress-built SD70ACe-T4 leads CSX U902 through the W.E. MacCorkle Siding on the Coal River Subdivision. This is the only cantilever on the Coal River Subdivision - and one of only three total cantilevers in the southern West Virginia coalfields.
