1275 was built by North British, Glasgow and was in service from 1952 to 1967. After restoration 1275 returned to main line in 2004. The locomotive ran fundraising trips from Whangarei to Portland and Kauri, steam returning to this section of line that is normally closed to passenger trains for the first time in over 20 years.
