My somewhat ill-fated trip on the first run of former Lake Superior & Ishpeming 2-8-0 #18 on the San Luis & Rio Grande is winding down. We've had clouds and poor lighting all afternoon, but for our last runby a bit of luck. Just before setting, the sun breaks out of the low cloud deck to shine on #18 as it blasts over the top of the pass in a glorious scene of steam, smoke and sunlight. From a 2008 Trains Unlimited charter. My DSLR has died, but despite some issues, my trusty film SLR hangs in for one last shot.
