Remarks & Notes
This 5 unit set of Utah Railway helpers is rolling downgrade at Kyune near the top of the Price River Canyon. Actually I should have called them "helps" as that is what the Utah Ry. calls them. Just an hour or so previous, they had assisted a 15-17,000 ton coal train up the same grade to summit as mid train units. This set is a mix of Morrison Knudsen MK 5000C and Australian built SD 50’s. Nothing comparable to these unique helper sets anywhere else in the country.

One artifact of the steam era that remains in use to this day; even modern AC traction locomotives need help on the biggest hills.
