Highspeed train "Giruno" RABe 501 # 008 of the SBB, in the special paint scheme for "Ceneri 2020", is leaving the 57 kilometer long Gotthard Base Tunnel at 160 km/h, running the IC 684 from Lugano via Lucerne to Basel. The Gotthard Base Tunnel was opened in 2016, and this year the 15 kilometer long Ceneri Base Tunnel in the Ticino will be opened, the logical prolongation in the south.
