Remarks & Notes
The Mikado, not the Berk. Forget about the NKP, the older Mikado type (2-8-2) locomotive 765 was built by Baldwin for the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway in 1929, predating its later numbered cousin by 15 years. The name Mikado came from an order that Baldwin built for Japan, as Mikado is a word that refers to the Emperor of Japan. This 765 spent its first nineteen years on the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern, and was later leased to the Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range Railway in 1948 as 1330. When the lease ended in 1962, it was donated to the city of Gary, Indiana and has been on display in Gateway Park on E 4th Ave ever since, as seen during the blue hour of February 20, 2020. The EJ&E would become purchased by CN and maintained as a separate entity, but ultimately became part of Wisconsin Central, and Canadian National Railways without independent distinction.

A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
