| La Veta Pass With the PRLX SD70M having had mechanical issues the day before, the F40 that does not usually see service on the hill comes along just incase issues happen again. The power is moving west to pick up "hot" cars for Monte Vista that were set-out by a earlier train at the Summit. The track up the middle of the photo (and horseshoe) is the 7% balloon track that was used to turn steam helpers that shoved trains both eastbound and westbound up La Veta Pass. |
