"Crocodile" Ce 6/8 II # 14253, built in 1919, is leaving the 15 kilometer long Gotthard tunnel in Göschenen with the "Erlebniszug San Gottardo" (adventure train San Gottardo) from Bodio/Lavorgo to Erstfeld. Because of the Corona-lock-down, this was the first of this monthly trips in 2020. The double track Gotthard tunnel was opened in 1882, as you can see on the roman numerals above. But this very impressive 4 track tunnel portal was built in 1960 only, when the transport of cars through the tunnel was extended. Because of the local lack of space, two additional tracks had to be built for the entry and exit of the longer trains, which join the main tunnel (on the right) about 200 meters inside the mountain. This tunnel entrance was used by the San Gottardo adventure train because the tracks on the right are blocked in the moment by bridge sealing works (Reuss and Göschenerreuss bridges).
