Riding rails once belonging to former pre-merger rival Santa Fe, the cascade green and white colors of fallen flag giant Burlington Northern in the form of "Whiteface" SD40-2 #1706 make an appearance on BNSF's Chillicothe Subdivision as it guides L CHI1051 03A and its 57 car train of Chicago-Hodgkins to Galesburg freight west atop the Vermillion River at CP 91.5 just outside Streator. Belching out a cloud of diesel exhaust, the colorful consist of five EMDs sing their song as the engineer slaps the throttle back accelerating out of a permanent 40 mph speed restriction through town, hot on the heels of a Willow Springs to Alliance, TX intermodal Z. With a build date of March 1973, former BN 6342 has managed to have escaped rebuild and the paint booth and although receiving a BNSF patch and number, this veteran six-axle continues to hold its ground in local freight service on the railroad's Chicago Division.
