Dense fog hugs the mountains lining the New River near Rich Creek, VA as Norfolk Southern 9555 heads west to Bluefield, WV with an intermodal train on the morning of May 23, 2020. For the past week, large amounts of rainfall had caused the New River to swell to flood levels. Shortly after I left this location, US 460 was shutdown between here and Narrows due to multiple road washouts.
