It doesn't seem like it, but the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center is 35-year-old. Since tile roofs typically last anywhere from 50- to 100-years, the fact that the station is getting a new roof already might indicate that the original roof may not have been installed correctly. The real point of interest here, however, is Union Pacific local LOA32, with UP GP60 1064 for power. (UP calls these engines "GP62," indicating they were rebuilt at some point. UP 1064 is the former UP 1909, originally Southern Pacific 9607.) UP 1064 can easily handle its 10-car train, and the engineer is slowing down to switch from Metrolink's Orange Sub over to the UP's Santa Ana Industrial Lead, where this train's cars will be dropped off at various industries, and new cars picked up to be hauled back to Anaheim, and from there to West Colton Yard and, eventually, a variety of locations around the country. It's a shame that UP 1064's winged logo on the nose didn't "stick"! (Santa Ana, California – June 22, 2020)
